Alf Strange (right), portfolio director of Land Securities Properties, received the 2003 SCEPTRE Lifetime Achievement Award from Eric Williams, founding editor and special projects editor of Shopping Centre.
Strange joined Land Securities in 1974, having started his career with J Sainsbury in 1970. He worked first in rent reviews, lease renewals and lettings before moving on to shopping centre refurbishment projects. He later worked in regional property management before taking on responsibility for all property management
Strange was co-chair of the BCSC/College of Estate Management Shopping Centre Management Conference for two years, and spent five years on the Stratford Development Partnership Board in East London. He is on the board of the Association of Town Centre Management and on the advisory board for the College of Estate Management Diploma in Shopping Centre Management. He is a director of the Broadmead Company in Bristol; a board member of the Cardiff Initiative; and a director of the Ealing Centre Partnership.
