2004 SCEPTRE Lifetime Achievement Award

SCEPTRE Lifetime Achievement Award
Eric Williams, founding editor and special projects editor of Shopping Centre, received the 2004 SCEPTRE Lifetime Achievement Award from consultant Richard Wright, formerly with Jones Lang LaSalle and ex-BCSC president.
Williams’ career in publishing began at the Odhams Press and he later moved to the Sutton & Cheam Herald. His business press career began with William Reed, publisher of Shopping Centre, on Wine & Spirit Trade Review, and he later joined The Grocer. He left to edit Grocers’ Gazette before joining Lonsdale Advertising, where his association with the property industry began. He later set up his own advertising and marketing agency.
In 1991, Williams took the idea for a retail property business publication to William Reed Business Media, and Shopping Centre was launched at that year’s BCSC Conference. In the years that followed, he established the magazine as the independent voice of the industry and earned the respect and affection of its practitioners.
